Gus Butel Lookout Palmtree Loop

A beautiful ride that takes in rainforests, vistas to the east over the Brisbane valley west across the rich farming lands of the Ravensbourne district. Experience the diversity of the native forests, listen to birds calling from the tree tops and enjoy the changings vistas and landscapes as you explore small country lanes. If you’re lucky, you may even see fireflys near the intersection of Kynoch and National Park Roads if you visit at night time in October and November. Take your time and explore some of the other forest trails and country lanes in the area. Roads are gravel or dirt.

Take the dirt road leads off to the southwest from Gus Beutel Lookout and enjoy a great downhill run that sets the scene for the rest of the ride. Take care as there can be some serious ruts in this road at times and after rain, it can be very muddy. The road changes to gravel with a couple of km and after that, it’s all gravel road as you follow the road through the rolling hills of the Ravensbourne district. A variation is to turn to the east off National Park Road, approximately 350 metres south of Kynoch Road and to explore some of the forest trails.
